THE CLIENT
Kirwans Solicitors was a long established firm of solicitors operating from a single office in Merseyside. Headed by Senior Partner, David Kirwan, the firm was particularly admired for its criminal, personal injury and family work. However, Kirwans was ready to build its profile both locally and across the rest of the UK.
STRATEGY AND PLAN
Mason Media was retained by Kirwans in December 2003 – and today it remains our oldest client. Within 48 hours of beginning work, we had secured coverage in the Daily Mail, Mirror, Guardian and national TV and radio around a case of an Iraq soldier whose family was told by a hotel that he couldn’t postpone his wedding – despite being in a coma.
Since then, the strategy has been to give David Kirwan and his team the kind of profile usually only enjoyed by much larger firms.
Mason Media has also worked closely with the firm’s management to develop other networking opportunities such as support for local and national charities and business events.
Through our own contacts, we have also introduced the firm to a number of high profile clients.
MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION
Since 2003, Mason Media has secured several hundred pieces of media coverage for Kirwans both in print and broadcast. Highlights have included The Times, Sky News, Daily Telegraph, Channel 4 News, Radio Five Live, as well as all local and regional outlets and specialist publications such as MCN and Horse and Hound.
RESULTS
Kirwans is now one of the highest profile firms in the North West of England and nationally and has grown to three offices and more than 100 staff with a prestigious new office in Liverpool.
PR, more than any other marketing discipline, has been central to the firm’s success.
